I think the tune and the playing was good. I wasn't as crazy about some of the sounds you got on this song..unlike my likings on your others. the 'leslie' kinda gtr on the left side really ruined the mix for me, as the attention was just shifted over to the left...and then trying to block that sound out. The leads were great. That rhythm gtr on the left sucked. You are one hell of a player though. Glad to see some good shredders posting here.

OK HERE IS THE SECRET FORMULA ! !

First you have to find Ol' man Badamshoe, he usually trolls abandoned railroad tracks down in St. Luis... When I ran into Badamshoe he was playing on a fire engine red hollow body gibson, and had himself a pignose amp. Man this cat had some unreal tone, maybe it was the way he balanced the pignose on his cortaroy pant leg, but I was hypnotized. So after going over my I-IV-V repatwar, I foxed up to Badamshoe and said, "hey old man, you got so much tone, you would color on a B&W tv!". Well that sent Ol' badamshoe laffin like Jolly ol' saint nick on x-mas night, and we played the blues all night. Finally Ol' man Badamshoe stopped playing and, "Boy, Im monna pass on a secret to ya, cause I like ya style. The secret of TONE is a simpla one, but mos' folks dont unerstand. Most folk ADD tone, but thats not how ya doit,ya gots to TAKE away tone. Now I know what cha thinkin', how the hell do I "Take away TONE", ya still wit me boy? Its easy, firs' ya gotta know what pickup ya gonna go wit, bridge or neck. If its da neck, turn the tone up all the way on the bridge pickup, if its da Bridge you go the other way, ya wit me boy? Now, ya toggles switch is always in the middle. Last but not least, slowly turn UP (taking away) the tone until you reach the desired tone of choice. Now dont be afraid ta tickle that other tone knob boy, cause sometimes guitars are funny, and when all else fails, get cha self a good pair a cortaroys and pignose, ha ha !

haha mix

that really isnt a guitar, its a keyboard sound, ill drop it back in the master, and hopes that will fix it from being annoying.

Jamal, your funny man... I have been playing with "signal processors " for guitar a long time. Its really funny when I used to go to auditions and walk in with this huge rack and cabinet. Right off I would get those looks, you know the one, " Oh god, here comes the super chorus-flanged-delay-multi-tap-ducking-sim amp-sim-speaker- distorted-overdrive guy with a hush"... I would like to think that I have a sound that says, Jason Hanerfeld. The reall deal with sound & tone IMHO comes down to 2 things, the instrament you play on, and the effects and amp you send it thru, hey I bet $100, you already knew that. I gonna be posting a long winded rant on exactly what I use and how I use it over in the guitar & amps forum. Check it out.

cool song. kick ass lead playing that we all excpect of course. the vocals werent' as bad as you make them out to be. my vocals.... now those you can bitch about.

the main thing I could hear was a lack of balance and space. spread out the backing vocals. there also needs to be something to balance out the left ear keys or wah or whatever it was. Maybe the rhythm guitar or some additional rhythm guitar.

I even liked your tone! can you believe that! I'm also guessing this was recorded to the roland vs2480? fill up those tracks man!

Sig Nine...

...this is a cool toon... great guits, natch... the vocals are actually pretty good... something Trent Reznor would be proud of... the wah-wah FX on the synth were great -- and didn't get cheesed up :) The only problem seems to be with the way the levels are just CRAMMED.... sounds like it was hard-limited....

You can get a nice, loud mix by jigsawing trax together with EQ (trax heavy at 1kHz with trax heavy at 2kHz, for instance) instead of slamming the limiter and imhop it would sound more open, yet loud. (That's what I did on my toon... still a bit of clipping/adjustments needed...)

imhop "Tell Me" would sound better with some roomy 'verb on the synth, something on the VOX... and those drums (SR-16's, no doubt ;) -- don't worry about it... One of Blue Bear's recent toons uses an SR-16  )

Did you get my reply to your "Alternative Boy" thread? Also PM'ed you during that time, since I was waiting to post my sht before I hit 500... THAT song kicks ass... (mix needed help, tho)...

Rock it

Chad

Cool song. Killer guitar work. I agree that you should crank the guitar but I found it a little too compressed, especially on the rythm sections. This was highlighted for me because I really liked the choppy psycadelic guitar work.

thanks guys...

well lots of work to do. I havent listened to the song in head phones, so Im wondering why that rezzo keyboad part is making everyone crazy.... im gonna be working on the SPACE as it were. believe it or not the vocal tracks arent even stereo and only the lead track has some delay on it. I intened to double both tracks so I can bring up the "wet" as it were. I hope all this toying around doent ruin the damn song though, but hey the 2480 has UNDO ;)

holy smack..... I just found out why the keyboards are slammed to the left side, didnt even realise... I just found out the hard way how adding effects on the 2480 can reroute your stereo input signals to one channel...err uh... ill be right back....

MEDIC ! ! ! !!
