Meant to email you a day or two ago but keep forgetting, and now cant find your email address...
I got a deal on shipping the mics... four to seven day shipping, for $11.
Beat that shit.
Let me know when they arrive. Should be very soon.

Cool.

From past experience, I watch our local courier deliverers like a hawk, so if you can let me know how and when they left I should know when to keep an eye open and which courier it may be.

The wife does Avon, and the guy that delivers her "shipments", is in the habit of throwing them onto the porch...............gentle is one thing he ain't.

I'll post in this thread when they get here.

Insurance and tracking numbers always help. :D I can't wait to hear what you think of the Oktava MC-012's compared to your Marshall MXL603S's... because I'm wondering if we think the same about them or not. :)

OK, I put the foam pop screen on them becuase its fat and it provided extra cushion, and then they are in a bubble bag, and then they have foam popcorn balls in there, and it seemed very tight and didnt move when I shook it, so they should be just fine. NEver had anything I shipped get broken that I can remember.

Thanks mate, but I figured you'd pack them well. I was more curious as to whether the $11 shipping deal was with USPS or one of the private companies..............USPS services will link with Aust., Post at this end and their local courier is fine as we've known him for years......it's the private ones I worry about :) .

Tube,

Can you give me details of when the mics were despatched, who with and any despatch reference numbers please mate.

Have you guys ever heard of the Private Message feature? ? ?

You should give it a try. It really comes in handy during times like these.

Chessrock,

I just found out I tested positive....also, those sores never did go away, I dont think it was just "a heat rash".....you bastard.....

(maybe I should use PM's....)

ausrock, How long ago did you pay tubedude for those mic's?

Lets see here...
he's on the other side of the world for Gods sake... I shipped 4-7 day (business days) and I posted that they went out on the 8th, wasnt it? So at the latest they should be there on the 19th skipping weekends and allowing for a full 7 days.
Bastards. :) I would guess before this weekend though.

Now, move along and mind thine own....

Hey Gidge, how long ago did you pay Chessrock for that "service"...?:p

Ausrock,
We must have the same bastard courier up here in Port Hedland, I have had packages devoured by the dog on several occasions, now I use my wifes work address to avoid it. By the way shipping from the US is quicker for me than from bloody Sydney.

payment was renderred at the time of service, but as far as Im concerned Im still paying.....

One pair of 603's, newly arrived. Passed through immigration, customs and quarantine and are this evening settling into their new home............currently over a Sonor 3001 kit. Already had a quick meeting with an acoustic or two.

:) :) :) :) :) :)

Good, glad they made it.
And all you bastards that doubted me, stick it up your...

Whattaya think so far?

Got a great acoustic sound straight up, with little time spent on placement......just an X-Y config and there was a nice sound.:)

As o/heads...........well I think once this kit is tuned for the room and I have had time to "play" with positioning, then they will be fine there as well...........just going to take longer to dial in the sweet spot.

Many thanks.

I've just lost out on the import battle...

I'm currently waiting for the courier to arrive, but got a call yesterday to say that I would need to pay GST and duty on delivery. I ordered a V67 and Audio Buddy, $365 Australian and now Im getting slugged another $106 for GST and duty. that price seems outrageously high on the duty and GST though, and although Im going to have to pay the courier, Im going to check with the tax office.

Dr.S,

It does appear somewhat high, but to be sure, contact Aust., Customs on; 1300 363 263 and they should be able to check it all out for you.

The only thing that may have caused the higher duty is the Audio Buddy as it may fall into a higher duty catagory. The mic alone only attracts 5% of initial cost (your purchase price [Customs Value]). GST is calculated on the total of the initial cost + duty + shipping and insurance.

Also have a look at www.customs.gov.au .

Thanks Ausrock,

A part of what I was charged was an Electronic entry charge, which I'd never heard of before, and quarantine clearance. next time I guess it pays to investigate shipping options a bit more carefully, and try and seek someone who will ship it via UPS/Aust Post.
the other thing that annoys me is I forgot that the Audiobuddy was going to require a different power supply. completely obvious, yet I forgot. good thing its a wall-wart otherwise it would have been really dumb if I needed to buy a step up/down transformer.

But the mic is here and I can't wait to test it out properly :)
