Is it that terrible that nobody wants to comment...or wait, is it that great? Or maybe so average it is forgetable?

Im not married to it guys, fire away!

Not bad...it has a lot of potential, and sounds really clean, and not too muddy.

Guitar - cool tone, just too fizzy as most overdriven guitars are on homerecordings. lower the distortion some (like 1/3 or more!). Are the guitars doubled? That'll give you the thickness without fizziness. Also a little room or verb on the guitars will make them sit better.

Bass - Maybe turn it up some, and EQ it and the guitars so they're not stepping on eachother (i.e. highpass the guitars around 150-220hz, and push the bass up in that range some, then Lowpass the bass around 4000hz or lower).

Drums - I'd like to hear more bass and thump in the kick. Maybe EQ up som 50hz or so. I'd also compress the snare to bring out the attack, and a little less ring...and add some verb so it isn't so up front and dry. I'm no drum expert, so others will have to help you with the specifics. I mostly just don't like the snare sound too much, and want more thump from the kick.

Not bad at all though!

I'll just ditto this for the most part. The snare is up front too much. Bass needs to hold up the low end better. This will make the kick even weaker. Once you get them in the right place, you may need to eq, to get them to work together. Vocals sound great! lol!

Overall, cool tune dood! Or whatever you are. :D

Sounds pretty good. Good energy and I liked the drumming.

Mix-wise, I could use more bass guitar and I suspect you'll have to carve some space out somewhere to make room for it.

I'd also bring up the kick and bring down the snare a little too I think...not crazy about the snare sound myself, but that is probably more of a personal preference thing.

I guess I'd also bring down the guitars a little? Hard to say without vocals and also if you do change the whole kick/bass region, then that will of course impact the guitars as well. Sounds good though - don't mean to sound like I have this huge list of things you should do...just some ideas.

Ok cool! Im gonna tweek those things you guys mentioned. I thought I had the kick the way I wanted but my monitors are cheap. I freakin always struggle getting snare sounds, my basement does not help at all.

I have no idea what to vocally/melody wise...every idea I came up with sucked, plus it doesnt help Im not much of a singer.

Oh yea, Im a old doood.
Thanks for the input I really appriciate it!

Cool song, drums a bit dry? nvrmnd take that back.

Ok I made some adjustments per advice...tried not to do too much very subtle. Cant seem to get the snare sound I want, next time I need to record it different. I recorded the guitars mic'd up thru a little practice amp so im pretty much stuck with what i got...oh well...have a listen.

Thanks alot!

Oh yea, still cant come up with a melody for the lyrics I'll give that a go this weekend maybe.

I think I like this mix better, but you should see what others say...I'm on cans at the moment and can certainly hear and feel the kick a lot more (maybe too much now?), but the bass is still troublesome for me...it really pops forward on some of the higher runs, but I lose it in the lower register. How are the guitars panned? Could you spread them out a bit more if the rhythm is double-tracked? It seems like the middle could use some more space (especially if you were to add vocals). Just some thoughts...great use of a sick day!

i feel like there is alot of low end flying everywhere. and the mp3 quality kind a makes it hard to judge.

Damn that bass!! You know what im not even sure if i compressed that!! crap I heard that run stick out but got side tracked by my kids and forgot to fix it!
Thanks for the comments.

maybe the main mix should be highpassed and compressed alittle?

It needs vocals. It's not worth listening to or critiquing until it's a complete song.

If I would have put the first vocal I came up with for this song it REALLY WOULDNT HAVE BEEN WORTH LISTENING TO!
I just recorded the idea without any idea of a vocal melody/structure. If anyone wants to take a shot, be my guest.
