Here are some recordings that I've done recently. Most are of the hard rock/hardcore/metalcore genre. I played the drums and guitar, but you can tell I'm mostly a drummer. It'd be great to get some feedback on the recordings. I have a very minimal set-up, consisting of 3 mics, (two of them radioshack ugh) a yamaha mixer, a $25 garage sale guitar, the worlds slowest computer to run adobe audition 1.5 (233 mhz 128 of ram) and a borrowed amp. I think they sound excellent... but hey, you be the judge :)
thanks a lot, i appreciate it.

I mean this with all due respect, but: Is this a joke???

Your timing is pretty far off, man. You've got some neat ideas, but at times they're executed poorly. I'm all for the lofi sound you've got going on, but God the timing is driving me crazy. Is this your first attempt at recording? If so, you're on the right track.

The guitars are alright sounding. The drums sound pretty bad. The primary reasons for this, I suspect, is because of the quality of microphones you're using. The cymbals are probably the worst sound you've got going on. Try playing with your mic placement to get a better blend of your drums.

Lastly, try a metronome!!!

thanks a lot for the comments...
umm rory, you may be referencing to the first sound about timining. it has like 4 different tempo changes, all of which were done to a metronome. As i listen back, many parts are dead on, and theres some slack in a few areas, but hey, thanks for the criticism. in the second song, the compression was used to heavily on the drums...... i believe, and it gives it a lagging feel. but thanks again, i really do appreciate it.

hey my man, first off kudos on getting your ideas down and out there, its a great feeling to create something of your own. I think what you wanna do is kinda adventurous...like, drums are a bitch to record at the best of times; im sure you know that, but they can make or break your song! maybe come up with something a little simpler...start off small, i'm new to this too and started off with just one guitar. but you're doing the right thing, you're doing what you can with what you have. You can't buy inspiration or enthusiasm so good job.

thanks so much man. I really enjoy recording, and if I throw down some nice recordings with only a few mics, it definitely inspires me to do work towards getting better equipment. It's always great to hear from others doing the same thing, cheers mate. :)
