Nice song CMiller, Great kick sound and I liked the background vox. This song is very well constructed and had energy. I like it a lot....Ray J

That was a hot tune.I dug it but I think the vox were recorded a little hot/distorted.What kind of mic did you use?Maybe try it not so dry in the mix.
I dont know,I really liked everything but the vocal sound. I think with trying other mics or recording technics they might sound perfect.

Great work as usual....I liked the vocals a lot, but some verb wouldn't hurt either....the vocal distortion was only really noticeable at the beginning...loved that guitar in the background.....also liked the cymbal sound in the background during the break.....all instrumentation excellently executed, bass rocked...gibs
 
Kick ass Mark!

I can definitely hear a Van Halen influence there with the guitars which is cool! Everything was really "bouncy" - I think probably the drums have a lot to do with this because they sound really great - and as gibs said, that ride part in the bridge section is a nice touch.

Not a lot really to say except bring on that album!

Thanks guys...I really appreciate the comments, no kidding. I listened to the vocals and I can't hear the distortion. It might be the encoder, although I still don't know where it's frazzled. I'll have to solo the vocals and find it.

As far as the dryness of the vocals...that's interesting, because I always think I'm putting too much verb on everything. In this tune, I really felt I was laying it on.

RAYJ--Thanks a lot! The kick was miked using an ATM-25. I don't believe that there is any compression on it, but there might be a gate...I don't remember.

Ginzoo--Thanks! Like I said above, I can't find the spot, and it might be the encoder frazzling it. Now that I think about it, it could be the mic...it died shortly after I did the vocals for this. I used a really old ElectroVoice RE10 for all my vocals on this and a couple of others tunes. It's a dynamic cardiod. RIP

Gibs--Thanks man! The ride in the break is one of those "little" things that a lot of drummers forget about. Thanks for the compliments on the bass...it could've really used a compressor, but I recorded that B.C. (before I had a compressor).

Coop--I've always loved Ed's rhythm playing. I'm working on the album, it's almost finished...hopefully. Only a few more and it's done. I've got Emeric working on some drums for me, and I've got to write some lyrics to another one and wammo...it's finished!
 
I don't really notice any distortion on the Hi Fi Play (128) version except for maybe one tiny instant, within the first line or so, but it might have been a drum hit or something blending with the syllable in just the right way to give the impression of a momentary snark...

Love the song and the mix except I think that instrumental break needs thicker guitar work... maybe double the parts... this might be the encoding making it sound thinner and more nasally than it really is. Nice ending too...

Good song! As mentioned earlier, the vocals should blend a bit more. Some reverb and maybe a lil' compression would do the trick. The music is mixed perfect though...Keep it up!
 
rocking tune Mark!

the vocals are a bit upfront, i too heard to frizzle on the first phrase of the vocals. I think you could simply lower the volume of the vocals by a decible or two and they'd sit in the mix a little better, don't think reverb is the answer, maybe some compression, a de-esser could smooth out the vocals a bit too. Very very good overall- the guitars were kickin'....
