I bought a used squier guitar for more than I'd have paid for the same new!!!!

I didnt lose a lot of money ... but ... def. not a good deal :D :p

ahh ... another one ... I kinda mixed up 2 auctions on e-bay and started bidding like crazy on a new-crappy-cry-baby thinking it was a Thomas-organ-Crybaby w/ stack of dimes inductor .... that was another "not - so -good" deals

hahahaha!!!! I still get a good lough out of it ...

any "I-stood-right-there-when-the-sh!t-hit-the-fan-war-stories"?

Well, I have certainly found that there are certain "duff" guitars that bounce around permanently on Ebay. I wanted a Grosh forever and ended up finding a nice one for a decent price of the 'bay. Once I got it, it was a piece of crap. The worst Grosh I have ever played. Bleck. I turned around and sold in just a couple months for the same price I paid for it. Since then I've seen it come up for sale two more times on Ebay from different people.

I've seen this happen with few other guitars. They just keep turning up over and over again.

I bought my very first guitar, a Strat, for list price. This was before catalogs or the internet and I didnt know any better. That store is a bunch of scumbags.

What!?

It's not one of those mom & pop places we're supposed to be saving from the corporate greed of GC and MF?!?

Back when I was first starting out and knew even less than I do now,I had a Gibson Ranger amp and just gave it away.
You see it was all tube, had a little static and I was convinced solid state was the way to go. :o :o :o

I got rid of a blonde '60 something Telecaster with a Fender Bigsby tailpiece because ... it was noisy.

Which is exactly why I do NOT believe in "mom and pop" stores. Give me a deal, give me a solid return policy. I can do the rest, thanks.

Kid I knew in High School gave me a Squire strat for free (okay it might of been for drugs:D). It was in horrible shape. I sanded off the finish by hand, put a light stain on it, clear coat, changed the tuning keys and bridge, rewired it, filed the uneven frets, pretty much set it up to perfection. A few months later his mom called my mom asking for me to give the damn thing back. I took most of the hardware upgrades off, but it was still a complete waste of days of work.
Bastard. I'm sure he turned right around and sold it for more drugs

Oh, I hate it when that happens! It's like getting sniped on ebay!

I was pretty pissed at the time, but looking back it was a good learning experience doing work on a guitar I didn't give a shit about.

My second crappiest deal ever.

I had a friend who was going through some rough times and had gotten rid of all of his gear.He came over to my house and started playing an Ibanez Gibson SG copy that I had.It was at a time when it could be argued that the Ibanez knockoffs were as good if not better than the guitars they were emulating.
Well he starts laying it on thick about how he really likes the guitar and really needs one,so I in a moment of weakness sell it to him...dirt cheap.
Two weeks later I ask him how he's liking the guitar and he tells me he sold it to his brother in-law. For a nice profit I'm sure.

I bought a digitech RP200. I hated that thing, It was a waste of 150$. WORST DEAL EVER! But I did get satisfaction in selling it to some chump for list price. :)

Bought my first 'real' electric guitar at Pete's Guitar in Minneapolis/St. Paul.
I had been playing for about 6 months in the mid-70's. It was an early-70s Les Paul Deluxe.

I was living in the Bahamas at the time - and when I got it back, having hand-carried it on the plane, I discovered that it had a broken truss rod.

Hope ol' Pete's doin' okay.

My second marriage.

At least you can sell a shitty guitar and never have to listen to it again.

i paid $1,000 for a crappy set of dj turntables and a 2 channel mixer. I played with them for a week and sold it for an xbox.

well, even though i lost a TON of money on the deal i still have that xbox and play it all the time (well.. on weekends when i'm not working)

Well,at least your story has a positive side:One less D.J.!!

Eating my pre-CBS Fender Bassman head with a custom mod that had a Phono jack output mounted on the back that tapped the output at line level along with my 1978 SG standard. I got doodley squat for the pair. Then that hock-shop prick gave me $125 on a pair of $1300 DCM Time Windows. It was a bad day for me.

I lost out harder on the Kamikaze attack on my Honda Civic by some ugly fucker with an IROC Z running a red light.

If it sucked- it sucked.

How did it play other than the electronics noise?
