I am just getting started recording. Been a myusician for 25 years. This will be more of fun activity to write and record wongs with my 16 year old, So I am not looking for high end advice. I have Audacity loaded on my computer, have a used audiobox presonus 2x2 interface.. My computer recognizes the interface as a gadget, pings when I hook it or un hook it. it powers up, etc. But Audacity won't recognize the device.. Audacity will record if i go right in the computer mic jack.

Suggestions???

The interface came with studio one software, but I am the second owner, etc..

Go download the Presonus drivers at

w w w.presonus.c o m/technical-support/downloads/drivers-software/

(sorry, not enough posts to post a link properly yet)
and install according to the directions. Hopefully, that's all it will take to get things going and the device should then be selectable as an audio device in Audacity. If not, come back and we'll get you sorted out from there. :)

Give Reaper a try - it has a free trial. Audacity is rudimentary at best.

Thank you.. That worked.

Thank you. That worked. I just recorded a simple drum line and guitar track. i will spend some tiome on the forum FAQ and some time with the manual to get insight, now that I know it works. Again, Thanks.

Yeah I agree with arcadeko...Audacity is a pretty crummy DAW for what most people want to do, although it does have its uses. Reaper is a much better choice!

Yay! I'm so glad it's working for you! I do agree with the others about Reaper - it's a great DAW. But keep Audacity too, because you can use it as an external .wav editor. Reaper has a learning curve, but it's very well documented and there are great video tutorials for it online that can get you started quickly. It also has an active forum on the website so help is always available.
