Anyone know what machine and mixing board Hendrix used? I am to believe this is at Electric Ladyland studios in NY. Sadly he died about three months after it was completed.

I have posted a link to the album on my photobucket page to view the pictures. Please tell me what you think.

Thanks

As I recall, it was an Electrodyne. I was told that Bob Easton, of 360 Systems fame, helped design it.

Gosh, Hendrix, man! He was out there! He was cool! What a jammin Monster!

I don't have the slightest idea, but back in Hendrix's day there was a good share of custom built consoles in studios. Cool pictures, though!

I do not recognize any of that gear, but I recognize Hendrix. Does that count?;)

Great news on the electrodyne! There is a little community of enthusists and even a forum! Maybe I can ask them...

Copied this from some band's myspace profile:

The old 16 track console - Quad-Eight/Electrodyne custom built for Capitol Records Hollywood (Studio B), used to record Steve Miller's Joker Album in 1972 and many hits thereafter. Retired from Capitol and brought to Astral in 1984.

Humph ! Beer and an astray on a mixing desk.....Atheists !!!! Not even Budweiser !

I'd like to know the whole signal chain on Hendrixs' vocals. I was just listening to Are You Experienced on vinyl. What a sound!

I can tell you that in one of the photo's are Scully 280 tape machines. If I'm not mistaken, I have seen these units in both 8 and 16 track configurations at Electric Lady Studios. Hendrix and Eddie Kramer were using Scully's as early as 1968. Probably even some Ampex and maybe 3M Mincom's, too. :)
