IIght, y'allz help me out, i need shit loadz of advie! If anyone would really like to help me out, get at me on AIM: hann0ble!

but basically...i'll set it out for ya!

Currently in my room i got a $5 computer mic and cool edit pro 2.0, and thats it!!!!!

We're converting my attic/loft/roof, whatever you like, in to a little recording studio for me!

I need to know the basic shit i need, e.g. mics...mixers and shit!

I got like a £500/$650 (i think) budget, so you can see i dont got much to work with!!

Could you break down what I could buy with that and what I need?

I only want some basic stuff, I dont wanna go too over the top! Make it as cheap, but with as much quality as possible!!

If someone replies to this shit, Thanx Yo!! Much appreciated!

mild "advie"..... ask plain simple questions stating a plain simple goal in plain simple english.
Its a safe bet you are not recording classical opera but maybe you can narrow the field just a little.

My guess is he wants to create some rap beats. I have no advice in that area. Need more info.

Do you have a computer?

If yes, then what are the specifications of the computer?

What kind of music will you be creating?

Give us a little more information about your situation. :)

iight, sorry y'allz, if basically for recording vocals, for rap, cuz i got a producer to make me beats i just need a studio to record vocals, but with quality!

sorry :(

If you only have a sound card like SoundBlaster, they're not meant for audio. You may want to look at M-Audio's Delta series audio cards.

You will also need to upgrade your preamp and microphone. I have no experience with rap vocals so this is just a guess. A good start may be to get Presonus Blue Tube preamp and a Shure SM58 mic (maybe the Shure SM57).

To those of you who are more interested in making fun of Ðistinkt's way of communication than helping, I certainly hope you found folks more helpful than you are when you were starting out. This part of the BBS are for newbies - have a heart. I am now off my soapbox.

That's it... If you could only tell us MORE about what you've got there... PC's Spec ? What Sound Card ? What Windows ? (You use CoolEdit, then we assume you use Windows). Suply more information and you'll be helped more...

Agree with you the consul does (The Blue tube). SM58 also good point to start, the BETA version I found better yet. You might consider also Rhode NT, or AKGC2000B, or Audio Technica AT4047. SM57 tend to be more instrument mic than vocals (for guitars, snare drums, etc...)

What can we say... Thread asking sumthin' with lack of info will end up to be joke gallery. THIS is newbie forum, how can we give a respected answer for a question asked fool... Ask nice, plain english, save your rap for studio/gig... not here... Then you'll have a nice answer... ;)
