I am totally new--basic pc amd 500.S.B. pci sound card, 256mem. storage space plus. tape player is a technics m205 feeding a rca sa-155(thats is all that radio shack had).
My problem is that everytime I try to record a tape to my hdd the playbbace is high pitched and not understandable what am I doing wrong?

I have tried most of the major recording programs (pyro cakewalk, sound recorder in win 98se,new wave editor in nero, creative wave studio and on and on.)

Thanks

Hi,
I don't know your tape deck but make shure u use line out tape into line in of your soundcard.
Then make sure that the record fader of your soundsettings or audio properties is not too high.
You find the audio settings: right click on the little speaker icon and select audio properties.

If you truly mean high pitched and not overly loud, it sounds to me that either you don't have the clock reference set properly in the recording software, or for some reason on playback it's not set at the correct sampling rate. Could be improperly installed drivers or possibly just a wrong setting on either recording or playback.

Oh, from your other post I see that I misunderstood your symptoms.

Never mind...
