i have downloaded a couple free drumkits like ns_free but i don't know how to use them. they seem to have many layers for each drum / sound. i have a midi keyboard controller and fl studio. i personally don't like fpc that much. are there any better free programs to use ns_free with? if not how i would i go about setting it up with fpc? thanks a lot

or are there any other recommended better ways to go about programming drums? i need to be able to do it software on my laptop with a controller with headphones because a lot of times i will need to be mobile and/or not be able to make loud noises while doing so.

What I did, and this will be much easier than programming your drums, is buy a kit, learn to set it up, learn to tune it, learn to play it, learn to mic it, then learn to mix it.

It's cool because they sound like drums and everything. Another bonus is there's no drummer sponging off of you.

i can actually play drums pretty well , but the thing is i need to be able to come up with/program drums for songs while out and about . i may not necessarily use these drums in the final product, but i need a way to be able to come up with drums on my laptop with headphones and a controller.

I'm lazy and cheap so I use leafdrums. However ns_free has a lot more velocity layers than the kits I usually use, so... yeah.

Ahh!

Not much help with what you're trying to accomplish, but I do the same thing with an Alesis SR-16. It helps with the arragements when writing.

how would i go about setting up a drumkit like ns_free though with so many velocity layers etc? it seems like a lot of work. i'm completely lost. i have no problem setting up like 5 or 6 different drum sounds... but ns_free has like 100 and different velocity layers like you mentioned.

For the record, for the last 6 months, I take greater pleasure playing my drums than any other instrument.

Coincidentally, I've been considering quitting my job and hooking up with a stripper. :D

Shit, I did that even before I started playing drums. Must be destiny.

I bought some drums, and can't afford a stripper now.

I'll ask my wife for some money... :D

Sorry, there are no better drum samplers than the FPC, at least not for free.

Go here for an FPC patch for the NS_kit7.
