Okay, so I seriously need some help. I got everything needed to record, which included pop filter, stand, Audio Technica 4040 mic, Audio Technica ATHM40fs headphones, and M-Audio Mobile PREUSB audio interface.

Okay, so headphones are good. I hear beat out of both earphones right, but when I try to record the vocals, they only come out of left ear (if plugged in Ch.1 mic) and only out of right ear (if plugged in Ch.2). Any suggestions? And there is no pan or anything on the interface, and its not in the software Im using, cause even when Im not using software, and just talking into it with the headphones volume turned up and stuff, I only hear myself in one ear, depending on where the mic is plugged in, depends on what ear it comes out of. Someone please help me..

i think this sounds like its down to the monitoring system on your interface. Check your manual to see the settings on that particular device, which i have no particular knowledge of. Im sure this is to do with the monitoring section If your beats are in stereo and thats fine.

Yeah just checked the M audio site and downloaded the manual (im bored) if you look at the section on direct monitoring it should explain it to you. Page 21 onwards (i told you i was bored) deals with this issue. :)

Well, you could start by thanking Gumblefish for trying to help you, punk.

Okay....thanks RAMI. Thanks Gumblefish, I do appreciate it, and I did read that. But I am still not sure what to do.

I have the drivers installed, and this is what I have my stuff set too in the M-audio applet.

The mic is plugged into the MAudio Mobile PRE Audio Interface, then the interface is plugged in via USB to my computer.

Check the "left only"-box and connect your mic/instrument to channel 1.

This will give you the monitor signal on both channels when monitoring direct.
