Hey i am having some problems with my new pc. The problem is that all menus and basically anything that moves (meters in cubase, timeline bar in Windows Media PLayer etc) are very jerky and not smooth. This is especially a problem as I use the meters in cubase alot and if they aren't smooth they are useless.

Does anyonw have any ideas on settings i should change to make this go away.

Sorry if i am alittle vague (computers aren't my forte)

what kind of computer are you runnin?
cpu? ram?

check the tastmanager (ctr-Alt-del) when it is doing this to see if there are any programs that are hogging your cpu resources.

Yeah, something's eating up processing time. Do you use that computer for the internet? If so, have you checked for viruses and spyware?

Check your videocard drivers. When did this start happening? Does this happen on the desktop? Or just when you start using cubase?

I have an AMD64 3500 machine with 1024 corsair ram. MObo-ASus Av8(?)
This started happening after i installed XP pro. upgrading from home

The machine is brand new and hasn't been connected to the internet at all

Also there's MusicXP.net which has tips for optimizing XP for audio.

Hey thanks everyone for the replies, I have now solved the problem....sort of. The jerkyness went away when i plugged in the digital top analog adaptor in the other vga slot. So this means that there is a driver issue.

ONce again thanks
