I have a problem whenever I record on my computer. Whenever I record anything on my computer, it picks up other parts of the song. Example: I put some drums in the instrumental, but when I went to record the melody next, I can hear the drums in the background of the melody after it was recorded. Or when I have finished an instrumental and I am recording vocals, no matter how low I set the instrumental's volume or how much I adjust the microphone volume, the instrumental can be heard under my vocals (and I do use headphones). The other day I even muted the instrumental and recorded vocals and it still recorded the instrumental somehow. I need to hear the music if I am doing vocals, but the only way I have been able to record has been to play the music so I can barely hear the beat so I can at least keep on the beat. A couple of my friends said the problem might be because I don't have an actual soundcard, just integrated sound. Would this be the cause of my problem? And if so, would getting a card solve my problem because it is really annoying that previous parts of my songs are getting rerecorded every time I add something to the song. If this is confusing or makes no sense, i will try to reword it. Thanks.
PS it isn't the mic that is the problem because I have a very nice mic and preamp and the cords and everything work just fine.

It's the way you are routing the music in your software mixer. Check your windows mixer and make sure that Mic or Line is selected as the recording source instead of 'What you Hear' or Wav.
