Ok, it sounds great when played through the speakers, but then when its recrded it sounds kinda mellow and "metally" sounding, and it seems WAY to think in the center, and not enough on the sides.

My soundcard? I don't know. Thanks,

-Tom

How do you have it connected? What sound card are you using?

I have it to the line in, its an Avance AC97 I think , it came with the computer.

Hmmm. If the sound is THAT much different between what you hear "live" and what you hear on playback, I would think it would be a "settings" problem. Are you recording at CD quality (16/44)?

I"m using my V-amp2 with an Audiophile2496 and "GoldWave v5" and "MultitrackStudio v3" software and get great sounds live and recorded - I record mostly at 16/44.

If I think of anything else, I'll post. Anyone else have any ideas? I've got some "brain fog" at the moment.

i dont think thats it. can you post a sample of your recordings so i can compare.

Tom,

Check your email.

Also, just thought - could you be recording in mono? Stereo signals can do weird things when forced to mono - just a thought.

Check the sound coming from your V-amp using headphones, directly plugged in the V-amp. Then use the headphones on your soundcard output. The sound should be the same. If it's not the problem lies with your cabling or with your soundcard. The latter is probably the case since you can't expect decent recordings from a card that came with the computer.
I'd suggest you buy a new souncard. I also use the V-amp in combination with the audiophile 2496 and it works just fine.
Good luck.

this is because AC97 card that comes with computer has really shitty A/D converters. Sorry but small investments in audio card can be beneficial not only in recording - but in overall work with sound.
