Hi,

I am setting up a home recording studio and I have purchased the Yamaha ydd-60 (digital drum set) and for the usb/midi I/O interface I purchased the E-MU midi 1x1 tab.

My hopes were to plug and play/record however it's not quite working..

Software-wise I'm recording with the latest version of Audacity as well as Sony Sound Forge Audio Studio 8.

My problem is that, while the device shows up on my computer through devices/printers, it's not showing up as a device to record through in my software.

I installed the latest drivers from the manufactures website, and it says it's compatible with Windows 7 x64, which is what I'm running, but when I go to record, I either get no signal, or it records via the computers mic.

I tried reversing the I/O, plugging into different usb ports.. and the device always shows up on my computer but not in my software. I'm not sure what to do..

Thanks in advance

Well your basic problem is that both those programs are AUDIO recorders, not MIDI programs.

Give Reaper a try... it's fully functional, does both audio and midi and free to try out.... only $60 when you want to get a personal license. www.reaper.fm

will give that a try and let you know how it works, thanks a bunch!

Okay, so I downloaded the program, and successfully recorded but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to playback what I have recorded. I press play and there is no sound whatsoever. Do I need a midi editor to edit the notes?

I figured since I'm using a drum pad that the sounds I'm playing would be recorded along with the midi notes.

Thanks
