help with updating my bios!

I'm trying to disable my C-media onboard audio....on my asus A7V333 motherboard. It's impossible...

here's what i already sent to asus:

Operating System : WIN XP
I cannot find (in bios) the same menu (to disable the c-media onboard audio) as is shown in the
manual provided. The option:
Advanced - Onboard PCI Devices Control
does NOT exist in my Bios.

So, I have attempted to update my bios to your most current version. However, I cant run
A:\aflash.exe because the file is "protected", as my dos command prompt tells me.

Any ideas?

The whole point of this is to disable the onboard audio completely, I am using the M-Audio
Delta44 for audio recording and playback completely.

They were, literally, no help...
So, how do am i able to update my bios, if i cant even run aflash.exe?! anyone know how to "unprotect" it?! Otherwise, just tell me how to get windows to stop loading the driver for the stupid c-media stuff up everytime i uninstall it! I'd really love to disable it from the start though, so it doesnt bother me.

You can simply go to Device Manager and find the onboard audio device and check {do not use this device}this will disable it.

Does the newer version BIOS actually solve the whole audio problem you are having? I'd say if it doesn't indicate that then I probably wouldn't waste my time wih updating the BIOS until I really felt the need to. If it does then I can understand. I've actually got an Asus A7S333 mobo and I've got the instructions here with me but can't find anything that might solve your problem. There aren't any necessary jumpers you need to set are there? Other than that I don't know what else to tell ya. Sorry I can't be of much more help. Maybe try some other forums...maybe even ones geared at motherboards and Asus.

Normally it is impossible to run a bios update from a dos prompt inside windows. Most boot dos from a diskette, and then run it from there. About the only time a diskette still has its uses.

I have the same board..It seems like we had a hard time finding it also even with the updated bios.. I am however going to call my wife and see if she remembers where it is hehe...


As far as updating ...Go to my computer and right click on your "a:" drive go to format and check the Create a ms dos startup disk... Put the aflash.exe on to the disk...Then reboot your machine but keep the 3.5 in and it should come to a prompt.
