That sounds like guitar, right? (the sustained chord) Any ideas how one might mimic that? I've been trying different pickup selections, eq, reverbs, and picking locations. just wondering if i might be missing something big. i know it's impossible to know exactly what was used, but still curious as to what you guys think. thanks.
 
Could almost be distorted guitar with a wah pedal set in one position. Probably more towards the heel.
 
You mean that really quiet chord? I reckon it's a bit of overdriven/lightly distorted guitar... perhaps a tiny bit of chorus too (....or a slight amount of a modulation effect...like flange maybe)?

There's a reverb or maybe really quick delay on there too, you can hear some repeating (which might be the modulation effect though).
