I need a little help with this one. I have mid 80's analog Studiomaster 16 into 4 mixer (No direct outs) and Revox A-77 mkIV. How do I hook up this system? My plan is simple(for now), I need this, so that I can record guitar tracks,(simply by miking the guitar cab) What cables and where? Thanks!

Here's few pics of my gear

Neat stuff.

Really nice reel adapters on the Revox.

It looks to me like you need 4 RCA to 1/4" TS cables. Connect the AUX 1 and 2 jacks of the Revox to the LINE OUT jacks of the Studiomaster, and connect the LINE IN jacks of the Studiomaster to the output jacks on the Revox. I'd have to see some other pictures of the top panel of the Studiomaster to know more. Of course you'd want to have both L and R Record Level selectors set to AUX.

Ok thanks a lot man! I'll put more pics as soon as possible.

I ran across a site that custom made thoes reel adapters and boy were they expensive. I think the cheapest set was like $250.00 or something rediclus like that. If I can find the site again I will post it.

Nice mixing console. I believe that was the first Studiomaster imported to the US. I sold one of the first, a 24x4 (16x4 with 2 4 channel expanders) version of that to a fellow by the name of Rob "Cubby" Colby (Google him) when he was running sound for The Daisy Dillman Band in Minneapolis. At the time that was one of the most popular bands in the Twin Cities. Rob eventually left them and became the FOH mixer for Kansas.... Prince.... Genesis... Phil Colins..... Cindy Lauper.... Janet Jackson.... Ricky Martin.... and a ton of others who reside in dead brain cells in my head. He gained some valuable experience with that console. I even got to play with it a few times and really liked it at the time.

Edit: He has a website: http://cubbycolby.com/resume.html

Thanks for your interesting story Richard! You said that you sold one of the first consoles in the US, do you happen to remember when was that? Just wondering my mixers age(I dont have a clue when this was manufactured). My studiomaster isn't from mid 80's, like I posted before. I opened "the beast" and found out it's probably circa 81' but im not sure.

I can't date it exactly, but I believe it was sometime in the late '70's (probably '79, maybe '80) since Rob Colby was with Prince in 82 and had toured with several other national acts (Kansas) before that and had used the board for a while with the local band.
