Your mo-o-ovin' so fast..
Anyone got any sound proofing tips.
(this is currently going on right now)
My room is actually shaking alittle from a band practicing across the street. I am just now trying to plot when they pracitice so i can avoid recording during those times but any cheep sound proofing tips would do alot. my wall facing the other street is only so many inches thick with hardly, if any, insulation.

Thanks alot guys, outside noise in general is begining to really get to me.

btw: it isnt loud enough report it, well, it probly is. but if they start doing it all the time then i might get pissed off enough. it is only 7:36pm, but i know im going to end up having to do my stuff at like 2:00am eventually because of all the damn noise.

thanks again,

Soundproofing - Actually interrupting the transmission of sound, is going to take nothing short of the reconstruction of your outside wall and probably building a second wall on inside of the room.

If you want to suggest something to THEM on the other hand, re-studding the INSIDE of the wall in the room they rehearse in, filling those studs in with 8# per square foot mineral wool, maybe a layer of soundboard, and an airproof and waterproof barrier *might* quiet them down a little.

Or you could do the same thing in your room with some effectiveness also... But that wouldn't seem right and just for some reason...

yeah i know what you mean...theyre done practicing now, but i was really getting pissed off by it. i figure, im a night owl for the most part, and they only start around 7......i think...well ill check that out for when they practice and what time, it isnt always.

i dont want to resort to going to a local thrift store's tv section and buying all the gigantic wooden speakers and linning them up next to their building. and then playing repetitive 3 power chord rythems over and over again.
rant^

thanks anyways,

If you do end up doing that, let me know how it works out. It's long been a fantasy of mine - first living across from the rappers, now in a neighborhood of dogs. I dream of recording the dogs, slowing the speed down and playing it back like you suggest - in gigantic speakers.

thanks alot for the link man! the recording info should help me out, i dont think i can afford to redo my outside wall so my plan will have to be to wait for nights like this one (see above post)

thanks agin!

Offer to record them, when they invite you over simply let them know that you can record them from your house or maybe from the nearest town. If they don't get the hint it's probably because they are deaf from playing so loudly. Either way it is their responsibility to keep their sound in, you shouldn't have to worry about keeping their sound out. It is obvious that they have no respect for you or other people in the neighborhood. Most towns have noise ordinances so if all else fails let the local police talk to them, if they are bothering you then they are probably bothering your other neighbors too.

My junior year in college we lived accross the street from a frat house. I don't know who pissed off who more... They'd be noisy, and we'd constantly aim huge guitar amps/cabs at them and do our best/worst Macho Man Randy Savage impressions through a mic.

One night while I was out of town my roommate informed me that the frat got drunk, came over, and broke the mic. Good times....

massive master is right. Sound isolation which you are after is expensive. You need mass and airtight seals (obviously the animal). That's really the long and short of it. Mass=sheetrock=$$$. Airtight sheetrock. Now you wonder why studios charge so much? We can easy spend as much if not more in construction than gear. Good acoustics and isolation is hard and expensive to come buy.

sloppy kisses,

arggggggg.

Alright this is an older thread that im digging up. But i want everything to know that since ive gotten my set up "set up" theyve been playing later (they are right now, and its 8:14, so when the hell can i do any recording?). and they seem to have added a guitarist that is playing the root note of the repeditive powerchords at a higher octive....which is really just allowing for more noise to echo from their appartment, through my alley and into my house.
Wow they suck.

just thought i'd let you all know,

(good idea with the obvious hint thing....i could also offer to teach the guitarist how to play...hehe)

Yeah, well, i cant imagine what their neighbors are thinking. They probly lower the rent though...they are right above a church and their are plenty of houses that are of the same distance, if not closer.

funny thing-as it turns out, i think i know one of them (hah). Well, a friend of mine was telling me a while ago that his friend is in a "rock" band that isnt very good, and they play by/in a local church. so i dont know if it is or isnt him, but i do think that i will report it within the next 2 weeks, or so. just as a major warning. :D

cities are loud, arent they?

I'm tellin' ya...tri-tones!

Offer to record them.
Make money.
Use the money to sound proof your studio.
Sit back, have a beer, and let it all blow over.

I dont understand why everybody just sits back and suffers with it and no one calls the cops???? If that happened around my house, the swat team would have confiscated the gear by now and got a court order to stitch all of their mouths shut.....

Try piping the best of Barry Manilow (Conundrum, I know.) out the window at 6:30am. When THEY call the cops you will feel released from all guilt. :o Goose/Gander/Good For

why call the cops or report them before u ask them to quite it down........ dont be sacastic or nuffin just ask........ makes more since to me....... no swat team.... no CIA...... nuffin just ask.....

yeah, yeah...

i know i know...

ill keep the cops on hold, but this is obviously a repeating thing that will get in the way and must be disturbing others too. Ill demand for their practice times and for them to quite down.

lol, thanks guys-----------> but it quiet now, finally.

btw 100th post!

thanks again,

Agree to manage the band next door. You are tired of hearing all their talent go to waste. People need to witness their sonic genius. Get them a few good gigs, some free beer and have some hot babes always hanging around with you. Eventually, they will think you are the man. Pretty soon you can convince them to move to another city that has a burgeoning music scene, and a producer buddy of yours is positive the next big rock act is coming from there. You think, well you know, that they are that next band. You will even help them pack up all their equipment for the move (what a guy). Ask them to not forget the little people when they make it big. Be sure to have a tear in your eye as you wave goodbye
