Help with small home studio drums

OK, basically I only have this room to record in, it's just about big enough to record drums, but I only have a stereo mix into my computer, so I have to mix the drums before they go onto cubase. Has anyone got any advice of how I can do this, because obviously i am going to hear the actual sound of the drums aswell as what's going through the mixer....

Get a pair of isolation headphones, and do some trial and error. Once you have it dialed in, you'll know the setup.
 
best way to do this is to record several test drum tracks, trying different mic positions, and drum tunings of the heads to hear back what combo sounds best. this can take a bit of time till you get something your happy with. peace.
 
Personally, I'd send the kick all bu itself to one side (its own track) and the snare/overheads submixed to the other track. At least you'd have SOME control at mix time. And I'm starting to like mono overheads anyway so for me, it wouldn't be too much of a comprimise.
 
yea i was thinking of doing that, except i like to have control over the snare drum most, i shall have to just add reverb to the overheads AND snare. i don't have the money to get any of those headphones, i would get some if i could, but they are rele expensive
