Help with recording ?

Just bought the new Tascam DP-01FX/CD I was moving along fine just recording two tracks. Problems started when I tried to add a third track.
Here is what I'am doing.Create a song get in the home screen,assign and arm first track,press record and play first track records fine ( guitar rhythm ).
Arm second track I can here first track through headphones and play base
run,guitar.Arm third track the same way I can here first two tracks and try to
record a mandolin,it does not record !!! if I wait until first two tracks are done
and I'am still,playing I do not see the vertical bars going up and down in the screen window,what is going on,also I was able to record on that third track buy itself,but if I already have two tracks down I can't record a third anywhere. Thanks

Suggest you refer to the "overdubbing" section in the manual. I'm not familiar with your particular recorder but I've had two Tascam 488s prior to going digital and never had a problem overdubbing.

Except.....I never used the "turn the dial left or right for a this or that track...." I always kept the left/right dials straight up. But, I don't know if your set-up works like that.

If you recheck the "overdub" section of your manual, you should find out WHY you are not getting a signal to the 3rd or 4th tracks.
