Help with Power Mixer

Hello,

I recently bought a Behringer PMX 5000 from Musicians Friend. My problems is that I can't get any sound from the speakers. I built a speakon cable from a 50 feet, 16 gauge, 1/4 cables using a Neutrik NL4FC connector. The cables and the speakers were tested prior to connecting to the power mixer and they worked. Do anyone have experience using this power mixer that could set me straight on what I'm doing wrong? I'm still under the 30 day return period. Is it me or the equipment or both? Do I really need some special cables? The speaon cables are very expensive, $35 for 6 feet versus 15 for 50 feet, 1/4 cables plus $8 for connector.

I'll appreciate any information you can provide. I'll hate to return the item to find out that it was my fault.

Thanks for your replies but I found what I was doing wrong. The cables, connector and speakers were fine. It was setting the faders in the master board that was causing the problem.
