I have an old mic that I believe is hi Z, and I'd like to try it through an amplifier, but it has an old connector - see the picture below -- looks like a 5/8" male threaded coax thing. I'm having a heck of time finding a cable or an adapter to go with this. Is there a name for this type of connector, or can anyone give me some keywords to help search ("5/8" sucks as a search term, btw)? Or even better, does anyone know where to get a cable or an adapter for it?

heh -- thanks I *think* it's the

"CENTER PIN "75-MC1F" SCREW-ON TYPE F-20 - 1/4" PHONO"

that I want -- only costs about 5 times as much as the mic :D

Thanks!!!!!

I have that connector on an old Shure HiZ mic from back in the 70's. The old old Bogen PA's used to use that same connector. I bought a couple of those adapters at Radio Shack that you can plug a 1/4 phone plug into. That was several years ago but....might be worth a shot.

Hey nobody said this recording hobby was gonna be cheap did they? Good luck with that...I'm sure my first find wasn't the cheapest. Good luck!

most assuredly no. ;)

And I'm now convinced that's the right part number for the connector

75-MC1F = 5/8" female = old microphone connector

thanks again

Well, if you're not in any hurry for it

I think I might have one of those somewhere. It'll take a while to find, and there's no guarantee it's what I'm thinking of.

It was from an old Radio Shack mic from the early 70's. The mic itself is pretty much destroyed I think, but you know me, I can't throw anything away.

I inherited the 'hey, that oughta be good for something' gene from my dad.

It's a curse.

I'll try to look this weekend, maybe tomorrow if all goes well.
