Hey guys....It's the third time I re-do the drums on this. I keep thinking I have to re-track because I don't like the snare. But all the tunes I record in between re-doing this one sound good. So I'm beginning to wonder if I just have a drum sound in my head that I can't seem to duplicate.

For some reason, the snare seems choked on this track. I recorded it straight in with no compression, so it can't be too squashed. Maybe he mic was too close and I was hitting too hard....or something.

Does the snare sound OK to you?? Or do you hear the same thing as me???

The drums are my main concern, but any other crits would be much appreciated.

Thanx....

Madman Inside Me

My personal opinion on the snare and kick is that I would like to hear a little more liveliness in the snare in the way of "more crack"....perhaps by adding some high-mids to give it more attack.
The kick I think sounds a little "boxy/farty" for the likes of some descriptive words.

I'm a guitarist though remember! :D

Hmm... I kinda think they're... in need of more room?.. panned slightly to left?.., and the ride cymbal is on the wrong side. (taste issue? left handed drummer?):D
...what do I know, I'm a stringsman.

Thanx guys....Yeah, more room or something. The kick is a little dead, too. I just needed that confirmed.

The ride isn't on the wrong side, though. There is no wrong side, but even if there was, my ride cymbal is coming from the side you'd hear it from a rightie.

But I agree with the rest. :)

I think maybe your reverb settings are off. Maybe a slower attack and faster release?

But what do I know? :D

Actually, you might have a point in the sense that I put alot more reverb on the drums than I wanted to because I knew something just wasn't right. It just confirms that something's wrong with the track.

Weird that I'd keep having problems with the drum track for the same song over and over, while other songs aren't giving me the same problem. I wonder if the beat for this tune is making me hit my drums differently or something.

I'm re-tracking the drums for this one last time. And if it doesn't work, then it must mean the song isn't meant to be. :(

Hey guys. I apologise for closing the thread, but there's no use leaving it up and wasting your time with it. I have to re-do the drums no matter what. So I'd rather lock the thread and let it die so others can get their stuff listened to.

Thanx alot for the comments you guys.
