In the slow process of setting up a very small home recording area. I just got the M-audio Audiophile sound card and a Behringer Eurorack UB802. Everything is working fine, but I am running into a dilemma and can not figure out how to solve it.
When I want to record vocals, I want to hear the mix through my headphones along with the vocals. The headphones are plugged into the controlroom/headphone out. But I don't want to hear the vocals or anything else through the monitors since the mic is in the same room. The only way I can stop sound from coming from the monitors is to unplug them or turn them off. I can't turn the monitor volume down from the mixer without turning the main mix down, which I need turned up to record. This is extremely annoying, to reach around and turn them off, record, then turn them on to hear the whole mix through the monitors. Am i totally missing something?
I looked for a simple speaker switch with no luck. Is there a better set up or even a better mixer for under $100 that has more set up options?
