Hello,

I'm starting with:
FirePod > Cubase SX

I am racking my brain on the best way to setup a mixerless DAW that would allow me to have 4 (or more) differant headphone mixes. I will be getting a 4 channel headphone amp like the Behringer HA4700 to make my headphone mixes, I obviously want to take advantage of the Direct 0 latency monitoring, so what are my options here? Any ideas, equpiment suggestions, or examples?

Keep in mind I dont have a lot of $$ to spend.

I'm open to suggestions!

Thanks guys!
Josh

I haven't used Cubase, but if I was doing it in GT3, I would set up 4 Group or submix buses, the first output to the firepod's line outs 1+2, the 2nd output to line outs 3+4 etc. Then just Aux send each track to whichever group bus you want it to go to.

The limitation I would have in GT3 with this setup would be that I can aux each track to no more than 2 group buses, as I only have 2 aux sends per track

Do you mean setting up the buss's in Cubase? If I set up the buses in cubase or any software its not direct monitoring, and I will be dealing with monitoring latency. I want to do direct monitoring.

Well if you don't use a mixer, and you don't want to use s/w, I'm not sure how you'll do it just with the firepod.

Yes you will have some latency with s/w, but with asio drivers and a decent rig you should be able to get below 5ms which is pretty acceptable

I'm not apposed to purchaseing other gear. I just dont want a mixer taking up space especially since im just useing it for the headphone mixes... Maybe multi bus rackspace line mixer, or somthing.

Or do they make a headphone amp that has like 8 ins or so that will allow you to bus them to each headphone channel to creat your own mixes???

Any suggestions?

-Josh
