I am having trouble recording with my new computer. Any help would be appreciated greatly! ![Smilie :) :)](/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Here are the specs:
Compaq Presario Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1
Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor
1.00 GB RAM
32 bit operating system
288 GB Hard drive ( 252 free )
Altec Lansing 2.1 desktop speakers with 5.1 sub ( Insanely Loud )
Is this a decent computer for recording?![Confused  ](/images/smilies/confused.gif)
-----------------------------
For a mic im using a pretty cheap Philips PH62080 Microphone
I was doing some recording with Audacity, but recently I purchased ACID music studio 6.0
For hardware, I have purchased the E-MU 0404 sound card. ( 24-bit/192kHz )
Now, I know that the E-MU 0404 is not made for Vista but it seems to have installed properly. But, with the speakers plugged into the stock sound card, I am not getting any sound from them ( which the problem there is apparent )
But, what I need to know is if I hook my speakers up to the E-MU sound card by the 2 1/4" outs on the Breakout cables with a converter that converts a 1/8" male to a double 1/4" male, will that take the audio from the sound card and send it to my desktop speakers?
-----------------------------
One more question in the thread:
How do I plug my mics etc. into the breakout inputs of the E-MU sound card and record with ACID? Does ACID automatically get the signals from the E-MU?
I am confused about a lot of things and it would be really nice if someone could just explain to me what all that I need/ what all I need to do to get a decent stereo recording. Whether it be just guitar and vocals or whether it be a full band ( vocals, 2 guitars, bass, and drums )
Any help / suggestions would be a lot of help.
Thank you so much for your time.
