I just bought a decent amount of recording equipment and i am trying to figure out how to get it all up and running. I bought a ECHO MIAMIDI DIGITAL AUDIO AND MIDI CARD to plug into my computer, and a BEHRINGER EURORACK UB1222FX-PRO MIXER. I am using Cakewalk Music Creator, and when i plug my mixer into the soundcard there is a bad delay problem. I will say something into the mic, and half a second later it will come through my computer speakers and it echoes. Can anyone tell me what I may be doing wrong? thanks!

I'm not sure of what you mean by delay...I do but...I want to completely understand under what conditions you're getting this delay problem. Could you please describe the record signal chain and the monitor signal chain...while you're at it...describe the activity or the recording process a little more? Are you playing music from the PC and trying to record a second track on top?

I'm not familiar with your sound card but probobly the easiest way around any latency problems if your card doesn't support 0 latency input monitoring would be to take the audio out of the PC send it to the mixer...plug headphones into the mixer...you can then monitor/hear the PC audio while recording to the PC.

on the basis of what you've described, it could very well be a latency problem. One of the first things you can try is:
1 examine the options in Cakewalk and try to turn off 'software monitoring'
2 examine the echo interface and turn on its own monitoring (presuming it has this).

if this does not work (or can't be done), then you need to examine the latency settings. reducing these will decrease the echo effect, butmay increase instability in the system or quality of recording
