Hi ,

I have a vf16 and i am having trouble hooking up and using the aux send loop.

I have connected the y cable so the stero jack is plugged into the aux send jack on the back panel. Then I connected one of the mono jacks to the input on my zoom effects unit and the other to the out.

I selected both the aux1 and aux2 of the pre recorded track and put them to 99 but the original sound stays the same.

I have tried swapping the mono cables over but still no joy.

I know the effects unit is getting a signal as i have listened to it with headphones.

Am I missing something or what?

Thanks
Gareth

Okay, my manual shows that the aux jack on the back is a send only  . A "Y" connector with one stereo plug and two mono plugs sends aux 1 to one mono and aux 2 to the other mono. Reference your manual to see how the TRS (stereo) plug is set up. What you may need to do is one of two things:

1. continue to use the aux out and send the output signal from your processing device to one of your channels. If you are using an outboard signal processor such as an effects unit and sending, say, channel one to aux and the return to channel eight, channel eight would be your wet signal and channel one would be your dry. This method is really best if adding an fx processor that will process one to several channels at one time. You can process up to 15 channels it you are willing to mix them all in mono with only one effect (or one chain of effects) all at the same time. Up to 14 channels if you want to effect the stereo mix with either a mono, two monos (one to aux 1 the other to aux 2), or stereo fx (aux 1-L, aux 2-R).

2. Channels 7 & 8 have a insert jack that can be used. The insert is basically doing what you had hoped your aux jack was going to do :D . A "Y" connector with a TRS plug and two mono plugs is used to send AND return a signal to and from a processor. This will work with an fx unit but is perfect when you want to use a dynamics processor (compressor, EQ) for a single channel. The insert will work for only the single channel (7 or 8) being used, though both channels can go into a stereo processor at the same time.

That is all very general and depending on your experience is relatively simple to set up. Feel free to e-mail with any specific questions and I will try to answer the as best as I can. I do check this board every 1-3 days so you can post questions here as well.

Peace, Jim

Thanks Jim!

It sounds pretty crazy to me that the aux jack is send only! I was doing all this assuming it would recieve ( return ) as well!

Well I will try what you suggested, I think the insert option will suit my needs best.

Thanks again Jim.
