Hi!

Need some advice. I'm just starting to venture into recording from the very VERY VERY basic.

Had been recording my songs with crappy computer mic using creative lab's sound card via computer.

But whenever music or gets louder; the sound tends to peak. Can this be solved with proper studio condensor mic? I'm looking at SAMSON C01 at this point.

Can I connect the condensor mic direct to the soundcard without going through mixer, will that work?

plz advice; gonna purhcase in a day or two before departing London.

THANKS A MIL!

no, you have to have preamp that supplies phantom power to the mic.

Get a dynamic to start with......senn 835 or up, shure sm57 or unidyne III

Yep, if you just wanna start with a creative soundcard get a dynamic. I have the senns e835 and the SM57. I prefer the e835 on vox and snare but it is rubbish on amps. The SM57 sounds great on just about anything. I've even had success recording a clarinet with it
