OK, here's the deal:

I want to record multitrack, and I have these choices:

1) Keep my WaveCenter/PCI and add a Tango24 (ADAT)
2) Keep my WaveCenter/PCI and add an Alesis AI3 (ADAT)
3) Keep my WaveCenter/PCI and add a MOTU 2048mkII head (ADAT)
4) Get MOTU 2804mkII and use PCI-324 card
5) Get a DIGI001 w/ Pro Tools compatible with WinXP (I believe it is 6.0+)
6) Get an Echo Layla24 and discard WaveCenter/PCI

I am inclined at getting a MOTU 2408mkII head only and ADAT-it to the WaveCenter/PCI.

Your comments and suggestions are welcome.

Glad to be in this forum!

what software do you like using?? personally, i would eliminate the digi001 from the list as i am not a protools user. Is there any reason why there are just these 6 options? There are other high quality sound cards out there that may fit your needs as well. I guess if i had to pick from that list i would choose the motu

Thanks for the info. I want to record 8 channels, so all the cards above have 8 analog inputs (I want to take 8 subs out of the mixer into the computer). There's also the RME Hammerfall Multiface; that one is good too, but I got to check if it has ADAT because I would like to go from analog to digital through ADAT (I plan to have a thru to feed a HD multitracking like an EMU DARWIN).

P.S. Software would be Cakewalk and Audacity. I need to now get into research mode for the SW. You know, more $$$... :D

how about the delta 1010? i think that's what i'm gonna get when i get some dough together

Hmmm.....Delta 1010....I like it, but the connection from the break-out box to the PCI card could pick up some noise. ADAT eliminates that (although there's always noise inside a PC). Then again, any metal surface acts as an antenna, some better than others (dipole, etc). What are you thoughts, guys?
