i am having problem to get output from m audio firewire 410, from spdif coaxial connection

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar04/articles/maudio410.htm

didnt found any info here

"S/PDIF COAXIAL IN AND OUT CONNECTORS – S/PDIF digital input and output on coaxial RCA connectors. The digital input is selected via the FireWire 410’s control panel, while the digital output will be sent to both coaxial and optical outputs. Coaxial is the default setting in your control panel, so the coaxial input (only) is active until another selection is made."

manual says it should give output from default but i am havin problem any one pls help

i am trying to use the output of maudio firewire to coaxial spdif input of cd player..

i am in doubt if the output of the m audio is digital and the cd player needs analog input..

the maudio shows the output correct by displaying the led but the sound cant be heard

help pls...........thanks in advance -----as usual........ :)

A CD player has a digital input? Is this a CD recorder or something?

Anyway, the M-Audio FW1814 (the big brother to the 410) has temperamental S/PDIF. It stops working correctly unless the device is the only thing on the FireWire bus. (Well, it sometimes works with up to one other device, but only if the M-Audio box is first in the chain.)

If you have multiple devices on your FireWire bus, try disconnecting all of them besides the 410.

obvious thing is - are you sure the CD player has a s/pdif input? maybe it could be an analogue coaxial.

confused????

I am not having problem with the devices they are right and i only use firewire 410 with firewire cables..

i think i have less knowledge on the output of the firewire 410.. there is a coaxial output called spdif output..

i want to give that output to my cd player some one says that you need a special cable for that..

and one of my fren guessed that the maudio spdif is digital and the cd player have analoge coaxial output...

"A CD player has a digital input? Is this a CD recorder or something?"

i dont know if my cd player have digital input or not.. but the jack seem to connect easily.. that u use for dvd to tv connection what u call av jack..

my question is is there any thing like digital spdif and analog spdif or what????

pls look these pics of the mauido console if you want to see the pic of jack audio connection in maudio and cdplayer too i would post that...

confused??

I think every thing would look ok in the pictures the green light for the spdif out also is on in my firewire 410... i just think the problem is on the connection its just my guess...

like either the connection is between digital and analogue domain or .. the thing might be dead...

very confused

Sounds like the CD player does not have SPDIF can you post a pic of the back of the CD player? I know what the 410 looks like in the back.

i am thinkin the same the cd player dont have spdif connection ...

so now i realised or am i true to play the sound output from the computer i should use the 1/4" jack ... output as shown in the picture

my computer sound to my cd player ..........

my signal chain

computer -- firewire 410-(1)- cd player-- speakers

(1) is the connection between firewire to cdplayer.. where i can connect with spdif if my cd player allows..

i am thinking of 1/4" jacks into firewire 410 output .. via rca cable to my cdplayer...

what do u think guys

I think i got the answer the .. rca connector is able to connect with digital spdif coaxial connector too so i was confused....

http://compreviews.about.com/cs/soundcards/a/CompAudioPt3.htm

i think i have rca input in my cd player and digital spdif output in firewire 410 so the connection cant be made...

since the the connector and the cable are similar i may have been confused... what do u think guys ... am i right now...

so instead i am thinking of a connection 1/4" output from firewire to my rca jack input in my cd player i just need a jack.. this would work i know...

yeup. it's quite easy to see actually, as an rca s/pdif cable actually carries a stereo signal, whereas the input on your CD player is quite obviously 2 mono RCA ins (the white and red denominate L/R).

so yer best bet is to get 2x mono 1/4" jack to mono RCA.

thanks a lot

:) Hey frends your valuable advices and suggestion were very helpful... thanks for spending a part of your time to this thread....
