Hi everyone!

I'm searching for the best PCI soundcard for my needs but I can't make any choice yet.

I had a M-Audio Audiophile 24/96, good but not great and now I use an ESI 1010 to record my drums kit.

I plan to buy another audio PC and so, I need to find another soundcard. It would be great if I could improve my sound by finding a better soundcard than my ESI. I don't need so many in and out, just enough to record guitars and bass and midi for my keyboards.

I think about the RME 9632 but is there any other alternative in PCI and really good quality?

Thanks for your help

I bought an Echo Layla 3G as a replacement for my M-Audio Delta based on recommendations from other users here on this site. It is a pretty noticeable step up in quality for pretty much the same money. The sound is richer and 'fuller' for direct recordings and and the preamps are solid for micing up. It has multiple ins and outs and also has a separate headphone jack with independent volume (never could understand why the Delta never had one). Worth checking out, for the money the sound and value is great.

Thanks! I just checked this model, it looks great but I think I won't need all these ins/outs, maybe a sound with less ins and outs would be cheaper too. For the price of the Layla, I prefer to buy the RME 9632 for example...

well...there are many...but I love my newly acquired (but old) Motu 1224 with PCIX424 pci card...I never thought that firewire was the way to go,...but it is! (with a Motu pci card anyways!).

My PC seems to run bettererer too!

It's a massive step up from my Delta's, and bettererer than my PCI Echo Gina 24 with 8 outs (which I still love and will keep).....and the older Motu stuff is so cheap nowadays!!!...I remember dreaming of owning some Motu rack gear nearly 10 years ago!

Now I'm looking for more 1224's (rack only) to expand!.....they just seem to intergrate into my studio so seemlessly!...just hook up another firewire to the pci card and wham, more i/o!.

........but you don't want/need more i/o,..and probably don't want Motu....
.....so I'll just shut the fuck up on that.

Good luck on your search.

Hi there!

I'm still thinking of a new soundcard :)

I think about a RME Fireface. It seems that it's really good but what would be better than a RME Fireface? Just by curiosity...
