hi there.

looking for a cd burner for my puter to mixdown to.
currently using a tascam 424 analog 4track. from there i want to send the mix to the computer and burn baby burn.

i think i want an external one too. that way i can keep my cd-rom and make copies from that to the cd-r. am i correct that i can do this?

anyway, if you know the deal, please give me some reputable makes and models. im a computer idiot so anything relatively simple would be nice.

i dont necessarily need top quality. i do this for my own giggles.

thanks, my brothas and sistas. aint this fun?

This site has a lot of good information and reviews http://www.cdrlabs.com/index.php3

I like the Lite-On 24x , but it's an internal drive I believe, not sure if they make an external drive or not.

I have an old Panasonic 7502-b SCSI CD-R that still works fine at 4x. But when I upgrade I'll probably get the Lite-On drive, since a friend has one and it works great, has good performance, and is at an affordable price. I know Yamaha, TDK, Sony, and Plextor all make great burners. Some are alot more expensive though. :)

And you are correct, you can use your current cdrom and copy discs from it - on the fly or to the harddrive first and then afterwards. You don't have to have an external drive for that though unless you don't have any more drive bays open.

I really don't track the external units. But if you are looking internal the cool two to be looking at are the TDK Velo and Plextor. The Plextor unit is the only one around that will do accurate DAE (Digital Audio Extraction) at high speed (24X)

fellas
