I'm attempting to put together a dual purpose studio/media room and have come to the conclusion that I'm in way over my head. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The roles:
Role #1
- Record audio from 3 separate mics (live people speaking) to a pc.
- Allow audio from the 3 mics to be heard by translator who translates audio into a microphone that somehow ends up being routed on the fly to a pro fm transmitter. I'd Like to be able to record the translated version separately from whats being transmitted in English.
Role #2
- Transmit prerecorded audio from pc to 3 pairs of active speakers in different rooms with the ability to control the output levels of each pair of speakers.
I thought I had a good idea of what I needed but as I did more and more research, analysis paralysis kicked in and I hit a brick wall. I explored a lot
of options but never was able to fell 100% about any of them.
The options I expolred were:
1) pc to audio interface (which one i have no clue i got lost in all of the options). Analog mixer (no clue again) to audio interface. Audio interface out to speakers.
** The problem I ran into with this option as well as with the others was controlling the volume levels of three different groups of speakers. Also what options do I need to look for in an analog mixer for my particular setup?
2) role 1 - Mixer with built-in usb or firewire interface to pc. role 2 - opposite direction of role 1
** The problem with this option again is how do i independently control the volume levels of 3 pairs of speakers? Also does the mixer with interface allow me to record audio to my pc and transmit audio from my pc?
3) A whole bunch of other options using stuff like a Tascam FW-1082 control surface/interface or the Alesis Mastercontrol Studio interface.
At this point I've completely frustrated myself to the point that I'm getting thing mixed up and getting nowhere. As a matter of fact at times it seems as if i'm worse off than when i started.
HELP!!
