i recently bought an audiophile 2496 and just set it up... I use Cool Edit Pro 2.0 on Windows XP.... everything went fine, I got the card in the PCI slot, loaded up my computer and installed it using the windows driver, and it all went well... windows recognized the card and finished the installation properly. Now, first thing afterwards I plugged my cheap computer speakers into the input i have always used... NOT the 2496 inputs... (the 2496 only has MIDI and RCA inputs but the speakers use stereo mini)... I went into cool edit pro and opened up a mix i was working on, but when i played it I got no sound... can someone please help me? what do I need to do?

Well, first of all, you don't plug speakers into an input, you plud them into an output.

Your real problem is that now, your software is sending the audio out of the Audiophile 24/96, not your old sound card. You need to connect your speakers to the OUTPUTS of your Audiophile card. Otherwise, there is no point in having the Audiophile card at all.

You can use a simple dual RCA to 1/8" minjack female cable in order to connect your speakers to the Audiophile card. I am also interested to know why you bought the Audiophile card at all if you are only using "cheap computer speakers"?

ok thanks... i thought thats what the problem might be... the reason i bought the 2496 was to record to and to use with my real monitors when I get them... Im gettin a pair of Event TR8's real soon... thanks for the help...
