My goal: to get our live pro tools rig to send the midi commands to control my guitar presets
My rig: TC Electronics G-Major (standard effects processor). The G-Major presets control both its internal effects (delay, reverb, harmony etc) and switches channels on my Mesa Rectoverb 50 head. Currently, I control the G-Major with a Behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller.
My Situation: I change presets about 20 times per set currently and would like to eliminate the need to turn around and mess with my foot controller. Our live pro tools 8 rig (mac book plus digidesign 003 rack) is already used to give our drummer a click track and to play samples.
My Problem: Being a relative noob at PT, my first thought was:
“Create and arm a midi track in our current set’s PT session. Connect from footboard midi out > to midi in of G-Major then midi thru > to midi in on 003. Then simply record what I press on the foot board while we went through the set. “
Surprise surprise, this didn’t work. The midi track showed that nothing had been recorded and pressing the footboard didn’t register anywhere in PT. I tried connecting the footboard directly to the 003 and still nothing registered. I would greatly appreciate any help that you guys could give on how I should go about doing this.
