Guitar Tracks Pro 4, M-Sound Pro Tools, Cubase 4 LE. I'm apparently a newbie again. I did session w/Presonus Firepod 2 1/2 years ago & all was fine... New session w/M-Audio Fast Track and above-mentioned programs is a nightmare so far!!! Latency, clicks, etc. are killing me. I'm from dark ages apparently. Session in '08 was easy -no latency issues, etc. (probably because we were a band w/real drums, amps, etc.). Now I'm trying to do loops for 1st time in my life and failing. Computer is Dell D620/Duo Core 1.84 ghz/2 MEG RAM/M-Audio Fast Track interface. Is this a horrible combo? Never have worked w/loops for drums. I can load them up and cut/paste and all but do they have to be MIDI-triggered in order to free up resources for the rest of the mix? Help.... getting clicks/pops everywhere!

I'm somewhat confused about the title of your post and what you are asking. Are you saying that you have used all 3 programs and are getting clicks and pops?

Wondering why you are using all 3, but, you have a buffer and/or driver issue. Make sure you have the latest drivers for the Fast track from the M-audio site. Then set the buffer at 512 and see if that gets rid of all or some of the clicks. If it's better but still there, raise it higher until they are gone.

Yes, I am trying all 3 DAW setups to try an find which will work best. I'm rather frustrated as I have had a lot of what seem to be latency issues (with all 3 of them). I feel like a total dork but I'm trying to get it all straight. Processor is Core 2 Duo, but only a 1.8 Mz model. I'm wondering if that is the problem (despite the fact that I see others using that speed w/no problem). Have 3 gigs memory. On paper my system should be at least "do able" but I can't even import drum loops w/out having rather ridiculous pops/crackles!

Your computer is fine. It's a setting. You need to check your buffer size, and make sure your DAW and Fast Trac drivers are set to the same sample rate.

First, do you know how to do that? If you do, post the numbers and we can get you up and running.
