Ok,

I am a newbie.

I am having routing problems, or maybe its my computer

setup.

I just started setting up my system so I only

hooked up one of my pre amps.

I am running a Lynx Aurora 8 Though a Dangerous D-box.

The set up is strange. Here is why

Out of my computer, I have an AES16 card from Lynx

I have the HD26 to D25 going from port A on the Aurora Aes16

to the AES in on the back of the Aurora 8.

Then I have the Analog out going into the sum input

of the sum in of the D-box via a DB25 to DB25 cable.

I have a DB25 breakout cable going out of the Analog in

to the two Stereo outputs of a Trident 4t Chanel Strip.

I am using 1 and 2 on the break out xlr's.

I pluged in XLR's 7 & 8 from Analog in break out to the back of the D-box

and put them in sum outs.

The first problem is I can only monitor through Sum on the D-box.

The back of the D-box has a DAW XLR but I have no

way to route it back into my computer, because the

AES16 card is HD26 and the cable I am using is the

HD26 to DB25.

I have two Event 8" monitors hooked up to the main outs

of the D-box.

So, I can only monitor through sum, but for some reason the

monitor level seems low. If I play a CD in my computer

I have to almost crank the D-box up to hear it.

ESP with the headphones. Ihave to turn them up almost

all the way.

If I look at the level on the Aurora mixer it seems fine.

So, I tried a trial recording through Cubase.

1) I set up an Audio track Stereo or Mono in 1&2 (the Trident has some

funky way of having stereo outs.) Routed out to Stereo 1 & 2.

2) Hooked up a Bass guitar to the Instrument DI on the front

of the Trident. I pluged the headphones in the front

of the channel strip and adjusted volume and it sounded

fine, nice and punchy. But then, I pluged the Headphones

into the Dbox and I can hardley hear it.

The signal to the Aurora mixer is strong, but when you

look on the cubase mixer the meter is hardley hitting

half way. I would have to crank the trident up

to 10 on instrument input and output to get a strong

signal in cubase.

Any suggestions?

Does anyone know a service where I could do a via Remote Session

with someone?

Also, I would Paypal someone to help me out. There is

nobody in my area.

I would paste URL's so you can see the equipment I am using
but It will not let me post URLS.

Thank you

Welcome, Sniffyduke. :)

You don't have to pay for help here. However, be advised that if you have a very unusual setup, it may be a while before someone comes along who is familiar with that type of setup.

Check the output volume in the soft mixer of the Aurora8. It should have a fader on the outputs. Sounds to me like that fader is low. Either that or some trim adjustment in the D-box input if that's do-able.

I thought the point of the summing buss was to monitor through it.

Is it possible to put the DAW XLR into Port B on the AES 16???

You might have better luck posting this question over at the Lynx user BBS.

Thanks,
All faders on the Aurora look good. I wish I could monitor through DAW.
I can only record VI's to audio tracks Through inputs 7 & 8 because those are my sum outs.

I guess I could find a cable for chanels 9-16 but I only have an aurora 8

You mean get a HD26 break out XLR and input that into the single DAW plug on the back of the
D-box? So then I could monitor through 9 and 10? Can you dothis with only an 8 channel Aurora?

Yeah, does the AES 16 support paralleling the outputs from Port A and Port B simultaneously???

Or, as you suggest, maybe you could sum tracks in the Lynx mixer to channels 9 and 10 of the AES and route them off Port B into the DAW input on the D-box.

You might try calling Lynx tomorrow and see what they suggest.
