Help please

hey guys,

i recently got a USA big muff pi. I connected it up to find that my clean sound is always louder than the big muff. Even when the volume on the big muff is full!!

Any ideas on ow i can get round this?

I won't say much about my suspicions because there's a good chance I'm wrong (and would just add to confusion), but someone who does know, please answer because I'm having the same problem...

Mine's a green russian big muff pi...
Is something broken?
Is it suposed to work with a preamp (that seems kinda silly...)?
I'm using a fresh battery, so I doubt it's a power issue.
