Help on choosing a sound card

I have a Fostex VF160ex and I want to start to use the ADAT connections to record directly into my computer. I'd like to know what sound cards you guys recommend. I was thinking this one:

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express Sound Card

Will it work? Any pros and cons?

adat is a format.
that sound card doesn't support adat.

it supports SPDIF through an optical port, which people seem to call adat.

That sound card is only useful if you want to receive digital stereo, or encoded compressed dolby 5.1 audio.

If you want eight or sixteen channels of adat optical, i'd suggest you look at motu, maudio, focusrite interfaces etc.

Sadly, you're probably gona find loads of interfaces with extra IO that you're paying for, but don't need.

Hope that helps.

You are probably better off just dumping the tracks to CD then importing them into a DAW if that thing doesn't have USB. Otherwise you might as well just get a new interface that has USB or Firewire
