help newby with midi controller

I got my first midi keyboard controller.

I'm using Studio One Software trying to record a drum beat.

Everything is going well, except there is some sort of delay on what I'm recording.

I am playing the beat in time, but it is recording it a half a measure slow and it doesn't match up. I can drag the track to be in time when I'm finished...but its annoying.

Any ideas?

What kind of computer are you using (I only know Macs). I'm assuming you're not using a dinosaur computer.

One thought would be to try another app like Reaper to see if it happens there. That would tell you if your computer is up to the task.

I'm a newbie myself to all of this, but I was suffering the same problem. The fix for me was to get a soundcard rather than using the onboard sound card.

For recording purposes, you need to play as few tracks as possible and decrease your buffers as much as you can without causing glitches.
Then increase them as much as you want for playback purposes.
And as previously suggested, get a soundcard if you don't already have one.
