Help Needed

I know this is not where I should post this. However I have already tried posting this in the analog and fostex forum and gotten no anwsers. Here is the queation. I have a fostex x34 4 track tape recorder. Me and my friend tried plugging a mixer into the first track line in and ever since the first input has had a horrible static problem. We think we blew the preamp. Is this probally what happened? If it is not could you give me your ideas of what could be the problem? Could you also tell me how to fix it and how much it might cost based on what you think the problem is? Any help is appreciated. Thanks Matt

If nobody is answering it probably means they dont know the answer. There is no reason you should have blown the input with a line level signal but with older gear shit happens. Call a repair shop and ask them. You will have to do that anyway if you need new parts. Sorry I couldnt be more helpfull.
