Are these two compatable?

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card and Behringer V-Amp Pro Rackmount Amplifier Modeler?

Can the S/PPIF output from the V-Amp go into the M-Audio? I have read that this will give a better sound than the analog outputs.

Thank you..

Depends on what you want to do....

The S/PDIF outputs of the V-Amp Pro (assuming it is wired the same way as the Bass V-Amp Pro and assuming they didn't screw up their diagram) get their signal prior to the cab simulation, so you get the amp simulation but not the cab sim. Ditto for the 1/4" line outs.

If you're trying to get the full modeling, you'll want to use the XLR outs. Otherwise, yeah, go with the S/PDIF outputs and avoid the extra conversions.

What is full modeling?

You still get the cab simulation through the spdif. That's the way I use it, and I often try out different cab settings.

Yes, the 2496 has SPDIF in so you can use it that way.
