sorry I accidentally double posted...:

Hey, I posted a few days ago with a song called lights out and got a couple of responses on how i could help the mix...mostly drum comments. I have fixed the drums(I think), brought the vocals up, and panned the guitars more... tell me what you think now...and what I can still do to improve the sound.

Thanks guys,

James

Lights out

Cool tune, I like the blend on the vocals - well done. Nice tone on the guitar rhythm and leads....Bass stands up well on my PC speakers - good one.

The only thing I find is the drums - specifically the snare - sounds too loud.

And the snare tone is kind of tom-ish (is that a word lol). I prefer more snap in a snare. But remember that is just my personal preference.

Other than the snare volume its sounds really good.....

PS - use "thread tools" and close the other thread and let it fade away off the page. This can be the main thread....

:) :D :) :D

Listening with reasonable speakers - the drums are very central & up front. they actually hold the position I'd expect your vocals to be in.
This is a very good song - the nasal vocal emphasizes the power pop style.
But as said befor the guitar break really does nothing for the song except slow it down & break the flow - it doesn't seem to get back on top after that.

I agree. Bring the presence of the snare down slightly, bring the vocals up a LITTLE bit more. This is good though. I don't know what you tracked drums with, but if you can control the hi-hat...Bring that down just a little. It's the only cymbal that seems too loud to me. I'm really picky about people making their hi-hat too loud.

I must have missed this the first time around, but I lke this tune....alot!!! I love the drumming and the punches. The vocals match the style of tune. Everything seems to sit in the right place. I guess other people are more picky about exact volumes of certain instruments, I just either like listening to something or not. And while it could use some polish, I listened to it a few times because I think it's a really cool tune.
