Okay, I've posted this link on the MP3 clinic board but have gotten little info back on the mix and EQ. I know it's usually frowned upon to post a link here, but would you guys mind checking out this tune and give me some feed back on the levels, mix and EQ? It sounds like I'm not getting enough bass end out of the mic i'm using (studio projects b1) and the bass level sounds too low...

Song Title: Talkin' Smack

Anything will help...

Thanks!

It must suck ass, then. You know, if you cant say anything nice.....

but fuck it.

My first impression is that your image is off center... stereo image, that is. It seems like you are trying to seperate your two guitar parts.. which is good...cuz they need it. Their frequencies are all over each other. But instead of relying on the stereo trick, I would EQ your rhythm track way-bassy, and then EQ your melody-line track more mid-y. The vocals sound pretty good..maybe a little heavy on the doubling.. but cool.

When the shaker came in I REALLY got that 'the midrange is FULL of sound' feel. It stomps on the guitars. Id drop it, and replace it with something else...

This tune really needs some low-end, IMO. The congas also are right in that frequency range. (are they sampled, BTW?) I think you should rip them out.. and replace their parts beat for beat with low Toms. I know its weird, but I think it would sound GOOD.

that is all. Never post a mp3 here again, or I will certainly nuke it.

Thanks for the feedback...I think you're right on a lot of it. I'll give it another look.
