HELP. Motu 828mkII to yamaha mg16/4 mixer

How do i connect them so i can control each mic in sonar 6? i have a hosa 8 channel 1/4 jack to 1/4 jack cable. i want to have it go from the mixer to the motu so i can control the mics on the mixer. then have each mic as a seperate track in sonar. Any help would be great.Thank you
 
I am not familiar with that mixer, but to do what you are wanting to do you are going to need a direct out on each individual mixer channel. You can get away with using the send part of the send/recieve TRS plug on each channel if it has that.
 
hmm

so if i did that. it would send each mic as a single track to sonar 6? like one snare, one bass, one tom, one floor tom, and so forth?
