Help, Midi, Drumkit FFrom Hell2????????

I am a complete midiot! I never use midi stuff before so bear with me. I am running Pro Tools LE, and want to program my drums(very intricate) with Drumkit From Hell 2. How the heck do i do it. I am totally clueless. I think they should have a little instrunction when you buy the program for tards like me. I also have a Roland XP-10 and som e midi cables. How do you guys do this? I am desperate, and frustrated. I can hear the drums when i use the mouse on the little keyboard in Kontact, that DFH2 ships with but i can't for the life of me figure out how to program them. PLEASE HELP!!!!

First, you can't be a COMPLETE midiot since you found your way here...

Second, you need to read and digest some midi basics before anyone here can give you any specific help --- fortunately, we've all been where you are so you are not alone.

To use that DKFH to it's ultimate sterling kick-ass potential you need a TON of ram in your computer. Good thing a ton of ram is cheap these days...

Thanks for the links, I am using a CS PRO from sweetwater custom built for my setup. It is a 3.2 Processor, and 2 gigs of RAM. I was told this would be enough, but i can go on up to 4 gigs if need be. What do you think. I am using some expensive as hell RAM. DIMM= 300 + dollars for a gig. I guess it is identical to the RAM used in the Mac G 5's so i think it is good stuff.

Ok, i have read the information, and i have the understanding of basically how it works, i guess now i just try and set it up. I'm sure that i will be back with more questions though. I just got Pro Tools LE a few days ago and i am still adjusting to it's interface. Thanks again!

Nope it is the Digi 002 Rack

Nope, I got the Digi 002 Rack w/ Protools LE version 6.7, it has midi capabilities. Although i have transitioned from using the Roland VS2480CD to Pro Tools, i would have to say that the Roland unit was way more user friendly...but then again Pro Tools has more to offer so i guess a little more of a learning curve as well.

If you need help with 'protools', I'm not your guy. I just got thru posting a rant in the 'other equipment...' forum about protools and the Mbox.

Here's a link to a (should be) useful protools BBS --- one of the moderators is also an active HR member/question answerer so that should probably be your first stop for questions in the future.

But that doesn't mean that I'm not willing to help you get DKFH2 going, because I am --- and 2 gigs of ram should be plenty. You need lots of ram to load the looooooong samples that are the secret to DKFH sounding like real drums played in a real room.

Drumkit From Hell Dropouts???? WHY?

Hey i finally got my Pro Tools working with DKFH2, and when i pencil in all of my drums in the midi sequencer and play them back i sometimes experience dropouts in the sound. I have a custom built computer from sweetwater...made for Pro Tools LE, and it is a Pentium 4 3.2 gig processor with 2 gigs of DDR400 DIMM RAM. I was told this was more than enough to run this program? Was i misinformed. I use the quickload metal drum kit.

And i also get an error when i try and tune certain drums in the pre configured set. The Quickload Metal one in particular.

You may need to copy the drumkit you are trying to tune to a user bank before being able to adjust it.

And 2 gigs of ram should be more than enough to run DKFH2 at full throttle.

As far as the dropouts go, call Sweetwater about those. They sell their expertise along with thier gear and if it's really a P4 3.2mHz there's no reason that running an app like DKFH should overload the machine.

Now that I think of it, there may be a 'maximum polyphony' setting on the DKFH app which would restrict the number of drum voices available and have the same effect as a dropout - have you looked under 'setup' or 'options' for something like that? It may be provided to let the program run on less capable machines than you have. If you find it, set it to at least 12 but don't take it off entirely.
