help me understand- it's all German to me!

I've been using Vegas for a while now, but I'm checking out Cubase. I've figured it out ok, so far so good, except for it's editing capabilities.

The thing that's driving me nuts is the damn snapping when I try to move an event. I have a snare track that has drifted a few ms. off from the other tracks. How can I move the track just a little bit? It always snaps before or after where i want it, no matter what value the snap is at. I tried movin the Q around, thinking that the Q controlled the positions of the snap, but still no dice. I can't get it where I want it. when the snap is off it still snaps. how misleading.

Another thing that I can't figue out is this. I do my edits in the edit window, ok now what? do I just close it and the edits will be applied the song? It dosen't seem to work that way. How do I apply the edits? or do they just happen? I've yet to do an edit I suppose so I don't know if I actually know how or if I'm still fiddlin.

Is it really only one level of undo? geez that sucks big time.

I really like how the mixer is laid out- which is Vegas's weak point (damn those meters) but Cubase seems like a total pain as far as editing. Help me!

For editing, yes only one level of undo. Don't use the first edit window when you first double click on the waveform from the arrange window. Double click on the second window, the one with Q's. Do your editing in there.

To drag - do this from the arrange window (the window that shows all the track waveforms) Move the sliders at the left and top to enlarge the waveform both vertically and horizontally. Now, at the top just below the menu's you should see a drop down that says snap, bar 1/4 or 1/8 1/16 and off. Set it to off and drag the part.
